On the occasion a special boxed edition of Rulfo’s works, stamped with the centenary logo, has been published by Editorial RM to mark the centenary of the birth of Juan Rulfo. It includes the definitive versions of El Llano en Llamas, Pedro Páramo and El Gallo de Oro and other stories.
Juan Rulfo’s work, consisting essentially of the short story collection El Llano en llamas and the novels Pedro Páramo and El gallo de oro, have made him one of the most important writers of his century. Numerous authors – of the stature of Gabriel García Márquez, Jorge Luis Borges and Susan Sontag – have left testimonies to this.
In 2017, the centenary of Juan Rulfo’s birth, Editorial RM presents a special commemorative boxed edition that brings together El llano en llamas, Pedro Páramo and El gallo de oro y otros relatos, the latter title incorporating two early stories by Juan Rulfo: “La vida no es muy seria en sus cosas” and “Un pedazo de noche”, as well as “Castillo de Teayo”. There is also a letter from Rulfo to Clara Aparicio in which he reflects harshly on the nature of a soulless economic system. Finally, the reader will find nine texts that originally appeared in Los cuadernos de Juan Rulfo.
