Gestus is the third monographic volume of work by Yvonne Venegas publis- hed by Editorial RM. Focusing on the practice of portraiture in Mexico City.

The book explores the author’s personal approach to this traditional genre from two directions: first, portraits taken by Venegas of people recruited through classified ads and flyers; and second, images of other photographers working during portrait sessions. The combination of these two viewpoints provides a contemporary vision that both closes in on, and takes a distance from, different situations in which people relate to the camera.
