Secreto Sarayaku is a visual investigation of the everyday li- ves of the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku in the Ecua- dorian Amazon.
The narrative of this work reinterprets the ancestral philoso- phy of the Kawsak Sacha (Living Forest) which claims that everything in the forest is alive, possessed of a spirit, and interconnected. Whatever affects one being will affect them all, and because of this, the Sarayaku take nothing more than what they really need from the jungle.
Protecting their home is crucial for human survival, and this is accomplished partly with the assistance of the mythologi- cal Sacha Runakuna (Protective Beings) of the forest, and partly by using Western technology such as the Internet to spread their message of jungle conservation.
