Brossa Poetry exhibits Joan Brossa’s work in Mexico, ranging from his earliest texts to his final visual explorations. This book accompanies and documents the exhibition itself, but it also delves into the poiesis of his poetry. It includes the facsímile versión of the eight poems published in the Argentine magazine Diagonal cero, as well as a selection of his visual and sculptural Works that capture, together, the great leap taken by his work: from documentary stasis to the theatricality of everyday life.
The exhibition organised by Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), in collaboration with Artium, Vitoria, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA), Centro Cultural Kirchner (CCK), Buenos Aires, and the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), UNAM, Mexico City.
A comprehensive survey of the work of Joan Brossa, through his books and his visual investigations, including his pioneering work in theatre, cinema, music and artistic actions.
Halfway between Marx and Mallarmé: to give Brossa back his simple and popular voice, the voice of the people, whether they wear a hat or not; the voice of a light bulb, a train ticket, a playing card, a set of handcuffs or confetti.
In 2011, the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona was made the depository of the Fonds of the Fundació Joan Brossa, which contains the legacy of the artist.
