This book contains a selection of some 140 drawings by the painter and sculptor Brian Nissen. The drawings date from the 1960s and 1970s and were rediscovered by Nissen during his research in 2012 for the retrospective exhibition of his work at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
For Nissen, the find brought back vivid memories of his early years, when he used to draw day and night, in a smaller city and a more pleasant ambience. The drawings show how Nissen saw the world at the time: a mixture of the keen and subversive humor of his native England shot through with caustic Mexican playfulness.
