“We will only be able to tell something and be believed when we tell it with the faith of those who have lived or contemplated it and we reproduce that faith in those who listen to us.”….
David Trueba
Quim Vives presents his book as a photographic sequence of images from the film Saben Aquell, directed by David Trueba, which explains a moment in the life of the humorist Eugenio. These images are combined with personal texts by David Trueba himself, in which he analyzes, in first person, the film using, as tools in his discourse, the terms “fiction” and “the real”.
Eugenio was a very popular character in Spain during the late 80’s to the mid 90’s. A comedian who transversely reached many homes.
David Trueba, in addition to his cinematographic facet, is characterized by his career as a writer and journalist, with his own genuine charisma. The actors David Verdaguer and Carolina Yuste offer a stunning performance.
The film has won 7 Gaudí awards: Best female lead (Carolina Yuste), Best male lead (David Verdaguer); Best production direction (Eduard Vallès), Best art direction (Marc Pou); Best costumes (Lala Huete); Best makeup and hairdressing (Caitlin Acheson, Nacho Díaz and Benjamín Pérez); and Best sound (Xavi Mas, Eduardo Castro and Yasmina Praderas).
