This project gathers an extensive set of images of monuments, historical buildings and urban scapes of Mexico City, taken by two different photographers born with 100 years of distance: Guillermo Kahlo, 1871, Pforzheim, Germany and Rodrigo Vázquez, 1972, Mexico City.
Kahlo was assigned by Porfirio Díaz, former president of Mexico between 1876 and 1911, to do a meticulous photographic catalog of the federal heritage in 14 states of the Mexican Republic, as well as hundreds of city views, including Mexico City. Vazquez undertook the enormous task to photograph around 85 of Kahlo’s views from the exact same point of view and when possible, with the same lighting conditions used by the german photographer. To complete this photographic adventure, Vazquez used two big format cameras manufactured in 1904
