Surrounding ourselves with more or less complex rituals, we pretend to ignore the undeniable fact that, sooner or later, we will all hear Death whispering in our ears the words “Nemini Parco” (“I forgive no one”).
There are believers, agnostics and atheists with respect to divinities, but in no case does anyone doubt the existence of Death. So that this fear does not permanently overshadow our soul, in the darkness of ignorance we constantly look for a spark of hope.
With suggestive and visually very forceful images, the work of photographer Jesús Monterde, far from being a hymn to death, aims to be a call to life, to the hopeful struggle that we all sustain daily to not forget to look for a ray of light in the midst of so much darkness. And maybe we will find it.
