In 1979, Graciela Iturbide made a series of photographs of Zapotec culture, which resulted in a publication entitled Juchitán de las mujeres. This is probably the artist’s best-known series of photographs. It is the result of ten years of work, numerous trips to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and long contact with its inhabitants. No Juchiteco appears by chance in her photographs; each one was carefully staged.
Now completely redesigned by Olivier Andreotti, this edition includes numerous previously unpublished photographs and is co-published with the prestigious Toluca gallery in Paris. The foreword is by Mario Bellatín
