Invites readers to discover the beginnings of one of Sweden’s most distinctive contemporary artists through a deeply personal and long-overlooked chapter of his work.
More than a retrospective, the book traces how memory evolves over time and how a single place can continue to influence an artist’s way of seeing the world.
In 1985, Ulf Rollof (Sweden, 1961) travelled to a small rancho in Michoacán, Mexico, where he became the first foreigner to live in the village. Immersed in its daily life and welcomed by Doña María Vélez and her family, he developed a body of work unlike anything he had created before. Border of Time brings together these early works -drawings, photographs and notes- with later reflections, dreams and conversations, offering a rare insight into a pivotal moment in the artist’s life.
